Rights and educational planning

Brazilian inclusive-education policy provides for access to regular schooling, specialized educational support (AEE), accessibility resources and individualized planning according to educational needs. A medical report should not be used as a condition for enrollment or access to AEE under current federal guidance.

AEE, PEI and school support

AEE complements regular education and organizes pedagogical and accessibility resources. Case study and individualized plans can guide objectives, adaptations and monitoring. The need for a school support professional should be assessed in the educational context rather than assumed solely from diagnosis.

Participation across the whole school day

• Communication and sensory accessibility
• Transitions, outings and school events
• Peer relationships and protection from bullying
• Family-school communication based on observable information and progress

When problems persist

Repeated calls to remove a student, persistent isolation, frequent crises or lack of participation should prompt a review of barriers, supports and planning. Families can request meetings and written information about how supports will be organized.
